Electric Eden
2023, Scharaun Berlin
Part of the group show Studio Stadt „Peripherien elektronischer Musik“

What flows through power lines is not only electrical energy, but also political, institutional, and social power. The Walk Electric Eden illuminates the connections between electricity, the Catholic Church, and the exploitation of natural and cultural resources in the historical process of colonization in Latin America. The soundwalk traces colonial narratives of discovery through Alexander von Humboldt's encounter with the electric eel in South America: during the performative walk through Siemensstadt, electromagnetic sounds become audible. They are interwoven with various narratives, sound compositions, and images that have been converted into sound files using the method of “data bending.”
