Drawing on Judith Butler’s notion of the performative instability of identity, the work understands identity not as essence but as repetition — a set of acts that can shift, fail,

or transform. The oyster, capable of changing sex throughout its life, materializes this instability. It performs identity as an adaptive process rather than a fixed condition, unsettling the binary systems through which power seeks to organize bodies. In this sense, the work approaches biology itself as a site of critique, where transformation becomes a quiet form of resistance.
