Inspired by Anna Halprin's ‘Experiments in Environment Workshops’ from 1966, especially her project ‘Build A Driftwood City’, I collected driftwood and shells during a visit to Sea Ranch and Big Sur, California, to bring them to Berlin and process them in a hybrid process. These organic materials were scanned and then 3D printed. In doing so, I consciously question the temporal dimension of craftsmanship in contrast to modern technologies. The juxtaposition of traditional craftsmanship and 3D printing illustrates the tension between past and future, between slow, haptic processes and the speed of digital reproduction.
